DR ŚRUTI DAVÉ
DR ŚRUTI DAVÉ
Dr Śruti Mahendra Davé has gone full circle from growing up in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), attending Theodor Herzl Schools in the neighbourhood, to having an ophthalmology practice in her hometown.
After completing her undergraduate medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Cape Town, she returned to Gqeberha to complete her internship and community service.
With the benefit of a Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) in hand, Śruti joined her father, a medical doctor with a special interest in ophthalmology, continuing to learn from him, and taking over the practice for 2 years.
With extensive experience in medical and surgical specialities, Śruti returned to Cape Town to pursue her ophthalmology training at Tygerberg Hospital, obtaining her Diploma in Ophthalmology (DipOphth) and completing her specialist training (FCOphth) at Port Elizabeth Provincial Hospital, Groote Schuur and Red Cross Children’s Hospitals.
Prior to starting her new practice at Bay Eye, she worked with a corneal sub-specialist at St George’s Hospital.
Her special areas of interest include surgical retina, cornea, cataracts and trauma. She is particularly keen to alleviate the dry eye burden that is ubiquitous in our screen-intensive society.
She balances her private practice with several outreach projects and ophthalmology registrar training.
Her mantra is 'performance with purpose’, to strive to continuously learn and improve, thereby providing the best possible care to patients.
Outside of ophthalmology, you will find her travelling, and exploring new places, and new experiences. She is an avid motor enthusiast, nature lover, sports junkie, and would-be astronaut.
